Cardiac Patients Admitted During Week More Likely to Survive Published: 04/16/08
WEDNESDAY, April 16 (HealthDay News) -- Your chances for surviving a cardiac arrest are 13.4 percent worse if you are admitted to the hospital on the weekend versus a weekday, according to new research.
Even after taking into account factors such as hospital size and location and the person's age, gender and other illnesses, the lower survival rate remains the same.
"A higher death rate among patients admitted on weekends may be due to lack of resources for treating cardiac arrest," study author Richard M. Dubinsky, of the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, said in a prepared statement
Note to self: If or when I have a heart attack, I'll have to plan it on Monday thru Friday. I would guess Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday would be preferable. Monday, workers are tired from the weekend and Friday they are eager to go home, so if I have a heart attack I'll choose Wednesday, yip that's my plan. I'm glad I was warned.
1. Give God what's right -- not what's left.
2. Man's way leads to a hopeless end! -- God's way leads to an endless hope.
3. A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.
4. He who kneels before God can stand before anyone.
5. In the sentence of life, the devil may be a
comma--but never let him be the period.
6. Don't put a question mark where God puts a period.
7. Are you wrinkled with burden? Come to the church for a face-lift.
8. When praying, don't give God instructions - just
report for duty.
9. Don't wait for six strong men to take you to church.
10. We don't change God's message -- His message changes us.
11. The church is prayer-conditioned.
12. When God ordains, He sustains.
13. WARNING: Exposure to the Son may prevent burning.
14. Plan ahead -- It wasn't raining when Noah built the
ark.
15. Most people want to serve God, but only in an
advisory position.
16. Suffering from truth decay? Brush up on your Bible.
17. Exercise daily -- walk with the Lord.
18. Never give the devil a ride -- he will always want
to drive.
19. Nothing else ruins the truth like stretching it.
20. Compassion is difficult to give away because it
keeps coming back.
21. He who angers you controls you.
22. Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can
develop.
23. Give Satan an inch & he'll be a ruler.
24. Be ye fishers of men -- you catch them & He'll clean
them..
25. God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the
called.
What a difference a phone call can make. Our son just called, Brian is getting ready to be released from the hospital. CT scan found no abnormalities. Blood tests were taken, everything was normal. so whatever the other hospital thought they saw on the x-ray turned out to be nothing. We now have very happy parents and grandparents. Thanks to all for prayers and concern.
We got a call from my son today (the one in Maryland that doesn't blog) he was on his way to Childrens Hospital in Washington DC with his son Brian. He is getting a CT scan of his colon because x-rays showed a mass. Thats all I know for now. Please pray for his mom and dad too I know how scary of a time this has got to be for them, add me and Grandpa too. I'll update when I hear more.
Thanking you in advance for the prayers,
Grandma-P
